Complete details regarding GATE Computer Science & Information Technology (CS)

GATE is one of the most prestigious exams in India conducted by the IIT council. The process of form filling gets started in September and the exam held in the month of February. Every year more than 100k students fill the form and visit the center, but the beauty is, only a few got to succeed. In this blog, I will cover all the necessary details regarding GATE CSIT.

Eligibility criteria: To keep the blog short & crisp, I am providing you with a link. Click on the link to get complete eligibility criteria. Click here

Courses offered: After clearing the GATE exam with a good rank you can get an opportunity to pursue MTech (TA/RA), MS Research, Integrated MS & Ph.D. courses from various IIT's and NIT.

Cutoffs of all the courses are different for different reserved categories in India. Although it is very difficult to get the cutoffs of various IITs, we can easily get the cutoff of the NIT. NIT cutoff

Exam Pattern: GATE CSIT consists of 3 major portions:

Aptitude & Verbal (15 Marks)

Maths (Discrete + Engineering) (13-15 Marks)

Core Subjects (70-72 marks)

We got 3 hours to get the exam done. It is very difficult to do marks analysis for each subject individually because it varies every year. So, I will suggest if you are looking for a rank under 500, complete all the subjects.

I tried after looking at the number of questions from each subject, to develop an analysis table here.

During my preparation, I got to know that scoring 35-40 marks in GATE is not a difficult task. So, according to my observation, I just tried to pretend something. It just based on my point of view.

To qualify GATE CSIT: Just do Aptitude, C & DS, DLD, Algorithms, Linear Algebra with around 80% accuracy. It will help you to get around 30 marks on GATE.

To score between 30-40 marks: Just do Aptitude, C & DS, DLD, Algorithms, Maths with around 80% accuracy. It will help you to get around 35 marks on GATE.

To score between 40-50 marks: Just do Aptitude, C & DS, DLD, Algorithms, Maths, DBMS, OS with around 80% accuracy. It will help you to get around 45 marks on GATE.

To score more than 55 marks: Prepare all the subjects.

Strategy & Planning: Refer to this blog (Click here)

In the upcoming blogs, I will share a complete strategy to cover individual subjects. Stay tuned.

GATE preparation roadmap : One year

Disclaimer: All the things that I have discussed are best according to me. It might have some conflicts with the opinion of some other people. So, read the blog carefully. Assumptions: I have written this blog for the students who are ready to invest only one year.  GATE preparation is a very beautiful journey to go on. You can go for it. But, same as the other exams it also deserves some sacrifices. So, if you are ready to do some necessary sacrifices then read the blog otherwise close the tab. During a complete journey, you need to do only four things and these things will ensure your selections in any top college like IIT/NIT/IIIT. Those 4 things are: Complete the GATE syllabus, don't leave any topic. Solve previous year's questions at least 5-6 times during the whole journey. Write 25-30 full subject tests. Stay motivated, stay healthy. GATE Syllabus: This step has its own significance because you can not solve all the previous years without acquiring appropriate knowle...

The Indian Education System

Do you think the Indian education system is good enough to explore more? Reply in the comment section... We all know India is a leading country in producing Engineers and Doctors in bulk. The engineering entrance exam JEE ADVANCED and medical entrance exam NEET-UG are the two toughest exams in the country. Even after year millions of students are giving these exams to get the percentile of 99.2 and more. But, What about the rest? Other than these exams, lots of students are giving competitive exams to get into the premium institutes, but only 2% can get into it. On average 10k colleges are providing bachelor and masters degree to the students, but they are not ensuring them that they will get the job. So its time to make some changes in the education system. The education system must be flexible for both the students and professors. Few things make the Indian education system boring, irritating and less effective - 1) The Attendance criteria 2) Lack of focus on technical ...
